The CrossFit community endorses two main diets
1) The paleo diet
2) The Zone diet
(or a combination of the two)
The Paleo diet refers to the diet of our paleolithic or caveman ancestors. The argument is that the hunter gatherer diet of meat, veggies, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar, was the diet our species evolved on and needs. The diet is rich in good fats, proteins and fibre. Low in sugar and starchy carbs. If you follow our blog and keep an eye out for our nutrition sessions we can explain this in a lot more detail

The Zone diet was developed by Dr Barry Sears and uses a block method to judge the amounts of fats, protein and carbs in a meal. The aim of the blocks is to bring all the meals into a ratio of 40% carbs 30% protein and 30% fat. This is to control insulin and glycagon levels which place the body in an optimal fat burning athletic state. The zone diet in essence is all about controlling food quantity where as the paleo diet is about food quality.
